Brian Yount (10-8-11)
FLOWERY BRANCH - Brian Richard Yount, 44, died at his residence on Saturday, October 8, 2011, following long health struggles.
He was born in Florence, S.C. on March 2, 1967. Graduating from Hartsville High School in 1986, he played trumpet in the marching Red Foxes band. He loved the orange and purple of Clemson University and graduated from there in 1991. He worked in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster for many years.
Brian was the loving husband of Zulma Yount and the proud father of 4-year-old David. He is also survived by his parents, Dick and Jo Anne Yount of Harstville, S.C.; mother-in-law, Leonor Pinzon, Flowery Branch; brothers and their spouses, Mark and Pat Yount, Lilburn, and Greg and Dot Yount, Snellville; niece, Erin Yount Dickinson; and nephews, Chris, James and Jeffrey Yount.
A large circle of people counted him a fierce and loyal friend, whether childhood friends, high-school classmates that he saw on a regular basis, members of his church and Sunday School, or the doctors and nurses that saw him thru some difficult years. He was a faithful member of Blackshear Place Baptist Church and never missed an opportunity to share his testimony of faith in Christ. Though he had been thru many struggles, overcoming cancer at age 19 and battling the resulting heart disease for the past 4 years, he never ceased to have a joyful and optimistic outlook on life. He took great joy in living every day – whether driving to N.C. to see the first snow of the season or making sure to attend his recent high school reunion. He loved oldies music and movie trivia, and gathered an extensive collection of model airplanes, ships, cars and Star Wars figures. He valued family and friends above all and never ended a phone conversation without saying “love you.”
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, from the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home with interment to follow in Memorial Park South Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Crook will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
