WINDER – Eva Lee, 95, died December 1, 2011.
Born in Clarke County she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Alice Autry Griffeth. Mrs. Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Lee; son, Charles Lee; and daughter, Virginia Burnette.
Survivors include son, Wayne Lee of Mississippi; daughters, Brenda Wilkes, Winder; and Becky Andrews, Cleveland. Mrs. Lee is survived by 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, December 5 with the Rev. Wayne Lee officiating. Interment was in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Duluth.

GRAYSON - Jack Bruce Edwards, 48, died Thursday, December 1, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Gwinnett County he was the son of Madie Plunkett Edwards of Sugar Hill and the late James Edwards. He was employed as a carpenter.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Stella Marie Morton Edwards, Grayson; sons, Brandon Edwards, Monroe, James Edwards and Jack Edwards, both of Grayson; daughter, Heather Edwards, Grayson; brother, Bud Edwards, Monroe; and sisters, Janie Langley and Edith Edwards, both of Buford, Martha Knox, Auburn, Jill Davis and Margie Shaw, both of Sugar Hill.

WINTER GARDEN, FLA. – Rita Steed Stone, 78, formerly of Winder, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011.
Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Mildred Chandler Steed. Mrs. Stone is survived by her husband, Clarence Kenneth Stone, of Winter Garden, Fla.
Survivors also include her sons, Perry Arnold and David Chandler Arnold, both of Orlando, Fla., Lester Steed Arnold, Poinciana, Fla.; daughter Lynn Williams, Orlando, Fla.; and stepson Kenny Stone, Lake Mary, Fla. Mrs. Stone is survived by four grandchildren.

She was the daughter of Betty Young of Flowery Branch and the late Robert Lee Wofford. She was employed as a beautician at Cinderella Beauty Shop and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors in addition to her mother include sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Mark Stonkus, Flowery Branch, and Joyce and Jack Orr, Oakwood; nephews, Raymond Stonkus and Shane Orr; and nieces, Brandy Pollock, Andrea Orr, and McKenzie Denard.

MAYSVILLE - Shawn Heffron, 45, formerly of Winder, died Monday, October 31, 2011, in West Baton Rouge, La.
A native of Pennsylvania, he was a truck driver for Great Wide Logistics. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Jack and Lois Marie Boyce Heffron.
Survivors include children, Kristie Heffron, Maysville, Robert Bond, Winder, and Randy Bond, Orlando, Fla.; brother, Tim Heffron, Talking Rock, Ga.; and grandchildren, Alyssa Bond, Jenna Bond, Ashlynn Bond and Chloe Bond.

GAINESVILLE - Christopher “Chris” Harper, 25, died Saturday, November 5, 2011 in Lincolnton, N.C. following a sudden illness.
Chris was a graduate of Gainesville High School and was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He was owner and operator of Harper’s Overhead Garage Doors.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Carroll B. Jones; and paternal grandparents, Edwin E. and Nettie Harper.
Survivors include his parents, Micheal and Brenda Harper; brother, Johnny Harper; nephew, Micheal Harper; and maternal grandmother, Betty Jean Martin, all of Gainesville; Fiance', Crystal Norman, Lincolnton, N.C.; and several aunts and uncles.

Mazie Garren (9-19-11)
Mazie W. Garren, 90, passed on to her heavenly home back on September 19, 2011. Born in Ocilla, Georgia, she lived in Barrow County since 1980, and one year prior in Jackson County, with her husband Graham and son Steven. They had only one child. Her husband passed on in 2006. She was the last surviving child of the late Judge James W. Whitley, Georgia's longest serving ordinary, and the daughter of his second wife the late Laura Cawood.
Though unable to attend church much in later years she was a Christian since childhood selflessly devoting herself to the Lord and others in spite of various severe trials. Everyone that knew her loved her including those that attended to her during her short stays in the hospital and nursing home. She was a fighter to the end retaining a remarkable spirit of hope yet also very homesick and ready to rejoin so many friends and loved ones that preceded her home.
The homegoing service was in the Carter Funeral Home Chapel officiated by the Rev. Garland Caraway and accompanied by family and friends. Though she will be greatly missed, God was incredibly merciful and loving in the orchestration of events in her final two months preparing both her and Steven for her departure.
