Born in Buford, she was the daughter of the late Richard F. and Carolyn Cross Barnette. She was a hairdresser at Tiff’s Hair Salon and had previously worked for V.P.D.

He had resided in Warren, Ohio for 70 years, and had served as assistant pastor of The First Assembly of Pentecost in Braceville, Ohio. Rev. Abbott was employed by Copperweld Steel Manufacturing as an inspector. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and served as a combat paratrooper. He received a Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaign Medals with four Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal and a Bronze Arrowhead.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice Abbott; sons and daughter-in-law, Ted and Anita Abbott, all of Winder; grandchildren, Shelia (Tripp) Powers and Ted (Kidest) Abbott, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Abbott and Brooklyn Abbott.

He was a 1974 graduate of The University of Georgia School of Pharmacy, attended Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and was a veteran having served in the United States Coast Guard.

A native of Gadsden, Ala., he was the son of the late Willie and Alice Ruth McCoy Griffin. Mr. Griffin was a member of the Winder First Presbyterian Church and was an officer with The Barrow County Sheriff’s Department. He served as the Barrow County Coroner for 12 years, and owned and operated WIMO Radio station for 15 years. He had been an industrial engineer working with NASA during the Apollo Missions. Mr. Griffin attended school in Gadsden and Sneed University in Albertville, Ala.
Survivors include his wife, Shelby Griffin, Winder; children, Joey and Monica Griffin, Winter Park, Fla., Greg and Wanda Davenport, Monroe, Jenny Ann Cox, Royston, Jessica Swords, Winder, Erica English and Phyllis Hansford, both of Watkinsville; brother, Mike Griffin, Boaz, Ala.; and eight grandchildren.
