Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Sonfonia Massey Clark. She was a homemaker and a member of Rogers Baptist Church. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ford D. Allen.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Leon Fitzpatrick, Danielsville; granddaughter and her husband, Christy and Mitch Porterfield; great-grandchildren, Mason Porterfield and Connor Porterfield; and a number of other relatives.

Born in Danielsville on August 26, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Hearlie Phillips Beard. She was a retired seamstress and of the Holiness Faith. She was married twice, first to the late David Chandler Kirk, second to the late Ralph Faulkner. Mrs. Faulkner was preceded in death by sisters, Avis Baxter, Clara Baxter, Mary Sue Haley and Margaret Kirk; and brothers, Buck, Bill and Harold Beard.
Survivors include a son, Pete Kirk, Royston; daughter, Becky Johnson, Danielsville; stepson, Tom Faulkner, Phoenix, Ariz.; stepdaughters, Janice Hubbard, Maysville, and Mary Williams, Commerce; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Irvin McElroy.

DANIELSVILLE – Sara Sue Fortson Adams of the Brown Memorial Convalescent Center died Monday, March 8, 2010.
Born on November 20, 1931, in Madison County, she was the daughter of the late King David and Birdie Mae Carithers Fortson. She was the 11th of 15 children. She was a homemaker and worked in several area sewing plants. She had an inhome daycare for many years and was retired from General Times in 1989 due to failing eyesight. She always lived within 20 miles from where she was born and raised.
Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Herman Adams. She was the caregiver for four years prior to his death. She then decided to sell the family home to Evangelical Church so they could build a Family Life Center. She was a resident of the Gables in Royston, where she had numerous friends and adventures. In late 2006, she broke a second hip due to her lack of sight and frailty and became a resident of Brown Memorial Convalescent Center. She had her hair and nails done every week and loved Bingo. She had friends and enjoyed friend and family visits. She enjoyed good physical health most of her life.
Survivors include children, Lee Douglas Adams, Herman Daniel Adams and Ophelia Adams Hart; a brother, King Fortson Jr.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by 13 brothers and sisters, James, Alson, Bethune, Early, Thelma, Sally, Emma Ruth, Mildred, Mary, Edna, Linda, Carolyn and Janice.

John Moon
CARLTON – John Loy Moon, 88, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010.
He was the son of the late Onnie Loy and Mamie Moon. He was a deacon and choir member of the Carlton Baptist Church for many years and is a member of Colbert Baptist Church. He retired from S.S. Kresge Company after 25 years of service.
Mr. Moon was a veteran of World War II with active service at the Battle of Attu Island, where he was wounded May 28, 1943. For this he received a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Dorothy L. Moon; a son John Larry Moon and wife Linda Moon and their sons, Charlie Moon and Chad Moon; son, O. Lee Moon and wife Debbie Moon and their daughters, Lori Moon and Erin Moon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 6, at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with Chaplain Maitland LaForce officiating. Burial will be in Old Fork Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Purple Heart Unit and VFW members.

Mrs. Tucker was preceded in death by her first husband, Ernest Tolbert; second husband, Roy Tucker; son, Gary Tolbert; and son-in-law, Ed Scarbrough. HULL – Harold Lee Gillispie, 65, died Sunday, February 28, 2010, at his residence from a massive heart attack.
His death occurred exactly as his father’s, on the same date 20 years later. He coached with the Madison County recreational department and was employed with the University of Georgia for a number of years.
Survivors include his wife Carol Gillispie; and sons, James Gillispie and Brian Gillispie; and brothers, Frank and Howard Gillispie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, March 4, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. His often expressed wish for a cremation will be honored.
