DANIELSVILLE – Jimmie Mitchell Carey, 79, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Madison County on November 24, 1930, he was the son of the late Edgar Carey and Jennie Beatenbough. He was retired from the Transco Continental Pipeline and was of the Baptist denomination. Mr. Carey was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Dora Hill Carey; a daughter, Dana LeAnne Carey; brothers, Albert, Chandler and Alton Carey; and sisters, Modie Crowe and Cumi Fortson.
Survivors include a daughter, DiAnne Carey, Danielsville; granddaughters, Bonnie Stith and Kerry Lynn Stith; and a great-grandchild, Gracie Lynn Dove.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Guest officiating. Burial will be in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where the family will receive friends Thursday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family is at home.

COMMERCE – Robert J. Smith, 90, died Wednesday morning, June 9, 2010, at the BJC Nursing Home in Commerce.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Ell and Allie Lee Saxton Smith. He was a retired textile worker and a member of the Madison Street Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was preceded in death by daughters, Eula Mae Smith and Linda Smith Miller; a brother, Stoy Smith; and a sister, Mary Edna Smallwood.
Survivors include his wife, Eula Rea Duffel Smith, Commerce; children, Runt and Jerri Smith, Ruth and John Dills, Peggy and Leon Minish, all of Commerce, and Jo and Stanley Brown, Homer; son-in-law, Michael Miller; sister, Lena Mae Dixon, Jefferson; 11 grandchildren and spouses; 30 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, at 2 p.m., from the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home with the Rev. David Harbin and James Waller officiating. Burial will be in the Grey Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.

A native of Lakeland, Fla., she was the daughter of the late Claude Danish Pope and Bertie Abigail Dean. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, William “Billy” Thomas Allen; stepmother, Carrie Smith; brothers, Claude “Pete” Pope and Jack Pope; and a sister, Chris Lorine Brewer.
Survivors include six children, Billy Ray (Bonnie Faye) Allen, Colbert, Diane (Frank) Tyner, Danielsville, Wanda (Charles) Williamson, Jefferson, Brenda (Pat) Palmer, Winterville, Cindy (Jimmy) Walker, Crawford, and Gwen (Bob) Milligan, Cartersville; sisters, Gladys Morgan, Cora Bell Qualls, and Helen Drew, all of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Winifred Pope and Shirley Dills; six grandsons; four granddaughters; seven step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
