WINDER – Frances O. Gaddis Faulkner, 93, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Fulton and Naomi Twiggs Gaddis. She was a member of Walnut Fork Baptist Church in Braselton, and enjoyed canning, gardening and flowering, and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Faulkner, two brothers, Hoke and Howard Gaddis; and a sister, Maybell Watson.
Survivors include eight sons, Fred (Ann) Faulkner, Winder, Roy (Gladys) Faulkner, Gainesville, Ray (Tammy) Faulkner, Commerce, Mack Faulkner, Auburn, Roger (Dell) Faulkner, Monroe, Truman Faulkner, Winder, Joe (Melodie) Faulkner, Monroe, and Thomas E. Faulkner, Winder; four daughters, Reba Faulkner, Winder, Joan Kellum, Bethlehem, Voncille (Ralph) Veron, Winder, and Robbie Faulkner, Winder; 26 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was born in Mobile, Ala., the daughter of the late Archie Levi Hughes and Irene Hutto Rogers. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Morrison was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Morrison.

Richard Palmer Huff (5-10-13)
MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - Richard Palmer Huff, 96, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 10, 2013.
He was born in Danielsville on November 6, 1916, the son of Susan Burroughs Huff and Joseph Young Huff. He was the youngest of seven siblings. Growing up in Danielsville, he attended schools in Madison County. After graduating he attended classes at the University of Georgia then pursued a career in the retail clothing business, which took him to Elberton, where he met and married Emily Brooks. He was predeceased by his wife, Emily Huff; a son, Richard Palmer Huff, Jr.; and daughter-in-law, Rhonwyn V. Huff.
After his marriage he joined the United States Navy as an aviation machinist mate, and for the duration of World War II served in Atlanta and St. Louis, Mo.
The following years saw a career in the insurance business, but fate took him to his final career as a banker at The Bank of Danielsville. He was instrumental in growing the bank to three branches and the ultimate sale to Century South Bank.
Richard Palmer Huff was a good man, loved ones stated. His word was his bond and he participated in multiple charities, clubs and organizations. Like his parents before him, the Huffs were members of Danielsville Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School and served as a Deacon.
Emily and Palmer were dear friends with a large circle of Madison County friends who, along with neighbors and extended family, were an important part of their lives.
Survivors include a son, Charles M. Huff, Charleston, S.C.; granddaughter, Emily Palmer Huff; and grandson, Joseph Moran Huff, all of Charleston.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 16, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Lord and Stephens in Danielsville. A family visitation will also be held there from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 15.

Raphael D. Barnett peacefully went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 9, 2013, surrounded by his family.
He was born January 25, 1927, in Jackson County, the son of William Young and Elbertice Hix Barnett of Commerce. Mr. Barnett was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Ann Sailors Barnett; sister, Louise Barnett Trotter; and brother, William Barnett.
He was a native of Commerce and a member of the First Baptist Church of Commerce. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was stationed in Okinawa. Hoyt Smith (5-11-13)
JEFFERSON - Hoyt Robertson Smith, 102, formerly of Nicholson, died Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Nicholson, the son of the late George and Emma Robertson Smith. At the age of 11, he lost his father leaving him to help his older brother and mother in raising the family by working on the farm and trapping. He volunteered to join the United States Army prior to the beginning of World War II and served for five years in the United States Army Air Corp.
He worked in the construction industry, including his position as a project manager with the University of Georgia, where he retired in the mid 1970s. Mr. Smith married Willometer "Meta" Sailors Smith in 1941 and remained married for 67 years until she passed away in 2008. He received a grant for the creation of the Nicholson Water Association, which he organized and managed for many years with his wife, Meta Smith. He served as a scoutmaster for the Nicholson Boy Scout Troop 86 for five years. He received honorary staff member certificates from two Georgia governors, the Honorable George Busbee and the Honorable Joe Frank Harris. On his 100th birthday, the Mayor and City Council of Nicholson paused in their deliberations to congratulate Mr. Smith on his 100th birthday.
He was a member of the Nicholson United Methodist Church, where he worshiped and served the Lord Jesus Christ for many years, serving as a lay leader, administrative board chair, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School teacher, church treasurer, church trustee, pastor-parish relation committee, and lay delegate to the North Georgia Annual Conference. Mr. Smith embodies the Wesleyan spirit of holiness of heart, mind, and soul, loved ones stated.
Mr. and Mrs. Smith raised three children, the late, Latona "Toni" McGinnis, Delores "Dee" Wilson, Rock Springs, and Robert "Bob" Smith, Braselton; two grandchildren, Mark McGinnis and Amy Wilson Macdonald; and five great grandchildren, Derrick Hammond, Emily Macdonald, Katie Macdonald, Alex Macdonald, and Jillian Haughey.

ELBERTON - Donna Lee Blackmon Seymour, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 10, 2013, just 10 days after her 43rd birthday.
She was born at Elbert Memorial Hospital on April 30, 1970, the daughter of Ronnie and Lynn Hill Blackmon of Elberton. She operated an in-home daycare for many years and later became administrator at Heardmont Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Donna was president of the Elberton Kiwanis Club, served on the Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, the Foundation's Young Professional Advisory Board, and the Elbert County Chamber of Commerce Board. She organized Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation's Jack Frost Jump and Womanless Beauty Pageant for the past two years. You never saw Donna without a smile on her face or a twinkle in her eye. Mrs. Seymour was preceded in death by grandparents, Clifton B. "Pete" and Etrulia Brewer Hill and Robert L. Blackmon and Sara Wallace Blackmon Butler.

Survivors in addition to her parents include her husband, Denny Wayne Seymour, Jr., Elberton; children, Jayce Seymour, Brayden Seymour, and Kylie Seymour, all of Elberton; grandson and light of her life, Jackson Black; brother, Kevin Blackmon and his wife Courtney, Elberton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Denny W., Sr. and Gail Seymour, Bowman; nieces and nephews, Karson, Tyler, Cadence, Georgia, DJ, Haylee, Hayden, and Hadley; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Elberton with the Revs. Tim Adams and David McConnell officiating. Interment will be in the Hill Family Cemetery in Homer, with Chad Blackmon, Dusty Smith, Michael Smith, Donny Seymour, Blake Young, and Shayne Bennett honored as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, May 13. At other hours they may be contacted at the residence of Ronnie and Lynn Blackmon, Bowman Highway, Elberton.
In lieu of flowers, Donna requested donations be made to a special fund at Pinnacle Bank, 884 Elbert St., Elberton, GA 30635 in her memory to benefit the Fragile X Foundation in Atlanta.
