Childers, Martha

WINDER - Martha Simpson Childers, 67, died Thursday, January 8, 2009.

Born in Barrow County, she was the daughter of the late John Henry and Thelma Martin Simpson and was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Bud” Childers.

Survivors include daughters, Rhonda Childers and Donna Barnes, both of Statham; and Amanda Fowler, Winder; four grandchildren; brother, James Simpson, Winder; sisters, Deborah Floyd, Tybee Island; Johnnie Johnson and Carolyn Dunagan, both of Winder.

Funeral services were held Sunday, January 11, at Smith Memory Chapel, with the Rev. Shuford Jones officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to Trust Account at Peoples Bank – Martha Childers Memorial Fund.

Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
