GILLSVILLE – Horace Wilson, 73, died Monday, January 5, 2009, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following a sudden illness.
Born on April 19, 1935, in Hall County, he was the son of the late Floyd T. Wilson and Minnie M. Turpin. He was a member of the Lebanon United Methodist Church and also attended Gillsville Baptist Church. Mr. Wilson was retired from the United States Army, having served his country in the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He worked in security for Indalex Caradon.
Survivors include his wife, Mathey Wilson, Gillsville; sons, Randall Wilson, Cornelia, Chad Wilson and Donnie Wilson, both of Winder, and William Rock Stratton, Lula; daughters, Sandy Mauer, Cumming, Faye Withrow, Flowery Branch, and Shyla Curtin, Gillsville; step-daughters, Dahlia Atkins and Bonnie Robin, both of Texas; brothers, Harvey Wilson, Gillsville, and Howard Wilson, Maysville; sisters, Myrtle Cagle, Grace Hewell and Virginia Roberts, all of Gillsville; 25 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 7, at Gillsville Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Calhoun and Marshall Dale officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Ward’s Funeral Home, Gainesville, was in charge of arrangements.
