Charlie Bridges, 88, of Athens, died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
Born in Madison County, he was the son of the late Nim Hawkins and Kate Meadow Bridges. He was a member of Forrest Heights Baptist Church and was retired from Westinghouse.
Survivors include his wife, Lois Irvin Bridges; a sister, Grace Spearman, Greenville, S.C.; brothers, Marvin Bridges, Danielsville, Calvin Bridges, Comer; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 3, 2009, at 2 p.m., at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dayton Logan and Mike Purdy officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
