Lois Skelton

Bertha Lois Phillips Skelton, 80, of Jefferson, died Sunday, December 28, 2008.

Born on December 25, 1928, in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late J.H. and Fannie Phillips. She was a homemaker, farmer and retired florist. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church. Mrs. Skelton was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her husband, J.W. Skelton, Jefferson; a son, Dennis Skelton, Charlotte, N.C.; daughter, Diane Rice, Jefferson; grandchildren, Scott Wilkes and Keith Wilkes; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor and Bailey Wilkes.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric Skelton officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Donald Phillips, Robert Phillips, Ricky Bryant, Howard Skelton, Mike Hensley and Eric Reynolds. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 30, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
