Leon Garrett, 40, of Commerce, died suddenly on Saturday, December 27, 2008, at his residence.

Born in Habersham County, he was the son of Betty Frady Garret of Commerce and the late Charles Edward Garrett. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Roger Edward Garrett.

Survivors in addition to his mother, include a son, Joseph Lee Garrett, Commerce; brother, Edward Garrett, Commerce; sisters, Linda Cowart, Nicholson, and Mary Gary, Maysville; one nephew; and six nieces.

Funeral services were held Monday, December 29, in the chapel of Ivie Funeral Home, after which the body will be cremated.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
