Alice Elizabeth “Betty” McGraw Huff, 78, of Madison County, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, from chronic lung disease.
Born on February 7, 1930, in Madison County, she was the daughter of Ellis and Alene McGraw. She grew up in Colbert and Athens, and was very proud of playing snare drums in the marching bank at Athens High School. Mrs. Huff was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, R.L. Huff Sr.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Carta, Athens, and Robin Wright, Minneapolis, Minn.; sons, Robert Huff Jr., Huntsville, Ala., and Steve Star, Orlando, Fla.; grandchildren, T.J. Wright, Laura Huff Nicholson, Amber Starr, Stephanie Varnedoe, Kelly Huff Oliver, Zachary Varnedoe and Amy Huff; and great-grandchildren, Travis Lipchinsky, Heidi Nicholson and Bailey Oliver; and her “baby,” a Chihuahua named Gigi.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 27, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Barry Black officiating. Burial will be in Bethaven Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
