Jerry Thomas Fields, 56, of Hull, died Monday, December 22, 2008, at Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens.
A native of Athens, he was the son of Opal Matthews Fields and the late Charles T. Fields. He was the founder of Jerry’s Lock and Key in 1989, but was forced to retire due to illness in 2006. He was a devoted father and loved by all that knew him, loved ones stated. Mr. Fields was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Fields.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include children, Herman (Heather Novia) Fields, Jennifer (Adam Hayes) Fields, Kevin Fields, Rebecca Fields; brothers, Jimmy Fields and Johnny Fields; grandchildren, Chase Fields, Hunter McCarty, Clay Novia and Nathan Novia.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 24, at Lord & Stephens Funeral Home with the Revs. Albert Vaughn and Morris Sapp officiating. Burial was at the Antioch Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Ashley Fields, Jason Fields, Wesley Fields, Donald Wilson, Thomas McDaniel, Eli McCarty and Paul Amason.
Lord & Stephens Funeral Home, East, Athens, was in charge of arrangements.
