Joe “Bug” Darlin Johnson Jr., 82, of Statham, died Saturday, December 20, 2008. Born in Gwinnett County, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Darlin and Joycie Barrett Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church and was a World War II Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Brumbelow Johnson, Statham; sons, Johnny, Tommy and Lonnie Johnson, all of Lawrenceville; daughters, Janice Casper, Lawrenceville, Peggy Page, Carnesville, Jackie Knight, Statham and Jeannie Alasadi, Augusta; fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; brother, James Johnson, Lawrenceville; sisters, Jeannette Holcomb, Geneva Masters, Shirley Leech and Mildred Vanderford, all of Lawrenceville; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held, Monday, December 22, at Smith Memory Chapel with Mr. Bruce Cox and Mrs. Elaine Corbin officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
