Joann Allen

Joann Shaw Allen, 75, of Danielsville, died Thursday, December 18, 2008.

A native and lifelong resident of Madison County, she was the daughter of the late Ben B. and Mary Odesa Davis. She was a pediatric nurse at Athens Regional Medical Center, where she retired after 27 years. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Shaw; and brothers, William C. Davis and Ben Davis Jr.

Survivors include her husband, William Neal Allen; children, Debi Shaw, Winterville, Brad (Michelle) Shaw and Cheryl (Lanier) Simmons, all of Danielsville; sister, Frances Edwards, Athens; brother, Cecil Davis, Athens; grandchildren, Alan (Adriane) Simmons, Renea Simmons and Ryan Simmons; great-grandchild, Walker Simmons; and special companions, Bo, Rocky, Chase and Callie.

Graveside services were held Sunday, December 21, at Evergreen Memorial Park with the Rev. Dan Fuller officiating. Pallbearers were Mike Horne, Stanley Williams, John DeVore, Brad Williams, Toby Hines and Ricky Scarborough.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
