Ruby Lee Tanksley Thrasher, 93, of Commerce, died Thursday, December 11, 2008, at BJC Nursing Home.

Born in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Doc and Maudie Shannon Tanksley. Mrs. Thrasher was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Thrasher; and her first husband of 30 years, Raymond Shackleford.

Survivors include grandchildren, Denise Rogers, Watkinsville, David Self, Loganville, and Phyllis Oakes, North Carolina; son-in-law, Sam Self, Watkinsville; sisters, Nellie Hammond, Statham, and Memphis Eason, Milstead; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held Saturday, December 13, at Ross Chapel Church in Watkinsville. Burial was in the Ross Chapel Church cemetery.

Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
