Cecil Martin

Cecil Martin, 80, of Royston, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008, at the Hill Haven Nursing Home in Commerce.

Born in Anniston, Ala., on August 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Sherrfield and Iva Lee Jones Martin. He was a carpenter and was Baptist. Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Saylors Martin; and a brother, Bonnie Martin.

Survivors include sons, Roger Martin, Royston, and David Martin, Anderson, S.C.; daughters, Linda Sanders, Royston, and Barbara Chastain, Danielsville; brothers, Ed Martin, Royston, and Earl Martin, Milledgeville; sister, Shirley Whitmire, Clayton; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 5, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Glenn Guest officiating. Burial was in Hannah’s Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
