Jack Armistead, 81, of Winder, died Friday, December 5, 2008.
A native and lifelong resident of Barrow County, he was the son of the late Willie and Rosa Lee Brewer Armistead. He was a member of the Winder First Baptist Church, where he attended the Brotherhood Sunday School Class, was a retired plumber, and was a veteran having served in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. Mr. Armistead was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Hammond Armistead.
Survivors include a son, Charles Armistead, Winder; granddaughter and husband, Angie and Chris McNeal, Chestnut Mountain; grandson, Brian Armistead, Atlanta; great-grandchildren, Calem, Meagan and Corin McNeal, all of Chestnut Mountain; sister-in-law, Darlene Milford, Panama City, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 8, in the chapel of Carter Funeral Home with Dr. John E. Talley officiating. Burial was in Barrow Memorial Gardens.
