Rev. J.L. White, 81, of Lula, died Saturday, December 6, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.
Born in Banks County on November 25, 1927, he was the son of the late John J. and Myra Phillips White. He was a farmer and enjoyed fishing. He was a member, chairman of the board of deacons, and associate pastor of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Rev. White was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Ruth Crisp White; a brother, Buster White; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Johnny White, Lula; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Terry Mote, Lula, Brenda and Daniel Webb, Dawsonville, Joan and Kennith Cochran, Commerce, Peggy and Hoyt Lovell, Gillsville, and Delores and Tony Goss, Clarkesville; brothers, Doyle White, Lula, and Jewell White, Alto; sisters, Mae Smith, Ethleen Hooper, both of Lula, Francine Westbrook, Baldwin, Betty Jo Tjepkema, Oakwood, and Joyce Shubert, Alto; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 9, at 2 p.m., at Rock Springs Baptist Church with the Revs. Chris Webb, Tony Goss and Kent Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
