James Brooks “J.B.” Bonds, 82, of Lula, died Sunday, December 7, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following a brief illness.
Born in Banks County on January 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Warren and Maggie Brock Bonds. He was retired from Warren Featherbone as a pattern maker with 35 years of dedicated service. He was Holiness and enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Bonds was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Meeks Bonds; brothers, Charlie and Myles Bonds; and a sister, Grace Davidson.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Betty Ann and Jerry Martin, Gainesville, Cathy and Jerry Miller, Lula, and Lynn and Scott Darby, Hattiesburg, Miss.; sons and daughter-in-law, Stanley and June Bonds and Larry Bonds, all of Lula; sisters and brother-in-law, Cara Wade and Ruby Simmons, both of Alto, and Ruth Acrey, Cornelia, Bonnie and Blake Bagwell, Buford; sisters-in-law, Betty Jordan, Alto, and Sarah Bonds, Beaufort, S.C.; grandchildren, Chris Bonds, Judd Bonds, Stefanie Martin, Angie Balthazor and her husband, Chris, and Garrison Darby; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 9, at Yonah Congregational Holiness Church with the Revs. David Carithers and John Umberhant officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with the Rev. Chris Balthazor officiating.
McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, was in charge of arrangements.
