Dorothy Lee Walker, 72, of Cornelia, died Thursday, November 27, 2008, at her residence, following an extended illness.
Born in Wilkes County on December 8, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Cora Wheeles Walker. She was a retired underwriter with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company with 20 plus years of dedicated service and was a longtime member of Buford Highway Baptist Church in Doraville. She enjoyed making ceramics, traveling and photography. Ms. Walker was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and neighbors and will be missed dearly. She was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Mack Webb and Ray Stephens.
Survivors include sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Webb, Clarkesville, Helen W. Stephens, Maysville, Betty and Gene Bustard, Greenville, S.C., and Jackie and John Billue, Cornelia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 29, in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Leon Peninger and Dr. Calvin Webb officiating. Burial was in Fishing Creek Baptist Church cemetery in Washington.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Northeast Georgia for the compassion and dedication they showed during her illness.
