SMSGT James “Jim” Strong, 47, of Yakota Air Base, Japan, died Friday, November 14, 2008.

Born in Anchorage, Alaska, he was the son of James and Betty Hays Strong of Jefferson. He was a Senior Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force.

Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Vicenta Ferrer Strong, Japan; daughters, Jordan A. Strong and Kathleen Strong, both of Anderson, Ind., and Jessica Strong, Japan; step-son, Varrick Bacani, Japan, step-daughter, Erica Ferrer, Japan; brothers, Tom Strong, Jefferson, and Michael Strong, Cumming.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 29, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. William M. Snipes officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Evans Funeral Home, Jefferson, is in charge of arrangements.
