Amory Barnett

Armory R. Barnett, 80, of Athens, died Sunday, November 23, 2008.

A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late Boyd and Icie Minish Barnett and was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Barnett. He was owner and operator of Barnett’s Welding Shop for over 40 years and was a veteran, having served in the United States Marine Corp.

Survivors include his wife of over 53 years, Allene T. Barnett; daughter and son-in-law, Betty Ann and Ed Ivey, Gainesville; brother, Willie Barnett, Commerce.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 26, at 2 p.m., in the Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Joel Dover officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
