Shelvy Jean Ashworth Phillips, 70, of Royston, died Friday, November 21, 2008, at the Nancy Hart Nursing Home in Elberton.
Born in Elbert County on January 23, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Willie Thomas Ashworth Sr. and Corrie Jane Moon Ashworth. She was a seamstress, a homemaker, a member of Zidon Baptist Church, and president of the residents’ council at the Nancy Hart Nursing Center. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lanier “Sonny” Phillips.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Mike Wallace, Bowman; son, Tracy Lanier Phillips, Lyons; grandson, Brandon Cothran, Royston; step-granddaughter, Allison Wallace, Townville, S.C.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Willie Thomas “Tommy” and Kathleen Ashworth, Athens.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 24, in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Revs. Phillip Duncan and Douglas Huff officiating. Burial will be in the Zidon Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, was in charge of arrangements.
