Elmer Douglas Shelton, 61, of Bogart, died Saturday, November 15, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Oconee County on August 25, 1947, the son of Lois McDaniel Skelton and the late Douglas Z. Shelton. He was a former truck driver. Mr. Shelton was preceded in death by a son, William “Buck” Shelton; daughters, Tawanna and Sandra Shelton; and brothers, James L. Shelton and Billy L. Shelton.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include a brother, John Shelton; sisters, Betty Sue Self, Brenda Sorrow and Kathy Samples; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 18, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with the Revs. Curtis Hammond and Larry Townsland officiating. Burial will be in Mars Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, November 17, from 6 to 8 p.m.
