Ralph Bentley, 93, of Winder, died Sunday, November 16, 2008.
Born in Walton County, he was the son of the late John and Elsie Bentley. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church in Statham and was retired from Sunbrand Manufacturing Company. He had also served as the former mayor of Statham. He was a Mason and Shriner for 50 plus years of Statham Lodge 634. Mr. Bentley was preceded in death by his wife, Belmaline Bentley; a granddaughter, Sherrie Bentley; brothers, Morris, Lamar and Raymond Bentley; and sisters, Ora Belle Williams, Zelma Elder, Lona Mae Wood and Ludi Brewer.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Terry and Patricia Bentley, Calvin and Frances Bentley; step-daughter and spouse, Diane and Simuel Doster; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 19, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Brock Burnett officiating. Burial will be in Barrow Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.
