William Lawrence Howell Jr., 57, of Baldwin, died Friday, October 17, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, after losing a battle with cancer.
Born in Fulton County on November 18, 1950, he was the son of Dorothy and step-father Merle Strange Nelson of North Glen, Colo., and the late Wallace Lawrence Howell Sr. Mr. Howell was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Howell. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army in Vietnam, and enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends, loved ones stated.
Survivors in addition to his mother and step-father, include his wife, Helen Howell, Baldwin; daughters and son-in-law, Lauren and Matt Jinks and Drew Howell, all of Lilburn; step-daughters, Jamie Davis, Turnerville, and Jeanne Shook, Demorest; son, John Howell, East Point; step-sons, Michael McDuffie, Baldwin, Wayne Church, Mt. Airy and Dwane Roach, Maryville, Tenn.; brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Allison Nelson, Colorado; sister and brother-in-law, Debra and Jim Keifer, Clermont, Calif.; seven step-grandchildren; and two special Vietnam veteran friends, Ted Clark and Eddie Forrester.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, November 15, at 2 p.m., at Bethesda Fellowship Congregational Holiness Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Helen Howell, 800 Park Ave., Baldwin, Ga. 30511.
