Sara Ruth Vickery, 71, of Royston, died Tuesday, November 11, 2008, at her residence.
Born in Anderson, S.C., on June 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Lizzie Mae Bailey Willis. She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness Faith. Mrs. Vickery was preceded in death by grandsons, Bo Vickery and Shawn Brock; daughters, Hilda Vickery and Pat Alexander; and sisters, Lillie Mae Thrasher and Nora Lee Ashworth.
Survivors include her husband, Howard R. Vickery, Royston; daughters, Teresa Barnett, Royston, Sonya Vickery, Danielsville, and Debbie Vickery, Buford; step-sons, Eddie Vickery, Anderson, S.C., and Howard Vickery, Starr, S.C.; brothers, Lester Willis and Julian Willis, both of Iva, S.C., and Levis Willis, Starr, S.C.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 14, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Pruitt Funeral Home with the Rev. Eugene Smith and Chaplin Benson Bottoms officiating. Burial will be in the Vickery Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, November 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
