Mildred Kidd Cash, 92, of Jefferson, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008.
She was born on September 12, 1916, in Jefferson, the daughter of the late C.D. Kidd Sr. and Lula Borders Kidd. She attended school in Sparta, because in those days there were no local schools for people of color to attend. After schooling, she moved to New Jersey and attended secretarial school, obtaining a job working in a medical doctor’s office as his secretary. After spending 42 years in New Jersey, she returned to Jefferson, where she lived until her death. Mrs. Cash was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Cash; and siblings, Andrew, Allen, James, C.D. Jr., Sarah and Annie.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Louise Fitch, Jefferson; grandson, Tellius Charles Fitch Sr.; great-grandson, Tellius Charles Fitch Jr.; sister, Lois Riley; and cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 10, at St. Paul Baptist Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Simmons officiating.
Forestglen Mortuary, Jefferson, was in charge of arrangements.
