Ruth J. Garrett, 97, of Statham, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008.
Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late James C. and Ellie H. Jackson. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethabara Baptist Church. Mrs. Garrett was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Cecil Garrett; brothers, Louie Jackson, Mell Jackson; and a sister, Lillian Shedd.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, James Garrett, Eddie and Barbara Garrett, Lavohn and Sue Garrett, all of Statham, Hinton “Bud” Garrett, Winder; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Hull Jackson, Snellville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 6, at 2 p.m., at Bethabara Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Bray and Bro. Asa Thomas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
