Betty Cleo Grant Ellington, 92, formerly of Clarkston, died Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough, following a brief illness.
She was born in Alto on January 24, 1916, the daughter of the late James A. and Violet E. Grant. She was a graduate of Piedmont College and taught school for over 40 years in the DeKalb County School System. She was an active member and pianist at Clarkston International Bible Church, formerly Clarkston Baptist Church. The was a Golden Sister member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority for 51 years. Mrs. Ellington was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse W. Ellington; and a son, Dr. Patrick Ellington.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Karen Ellington, Ft. Myers, Fla.; sister, Ruth Webster, Cornelia; nephews, Jim Brewer, Statham, and Vance Grant, Jackson, Tenn.; and many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, November 3, at 3 p.m., at Level Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at A.S. Turner and Sons Funeral Home in Decatur Monday from 5 to 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Clarkston International Bible Church, 3895 Church St., Clarkston, Ga. 30021.
Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin, is in charge of local arrangements.
