Helen J. Mitchell, 76 of Athens, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at her residence.
She was born in Ray County, Tenn., the daughter of the late James and Hazle Dillard Leffew. She was a homemaker and was Baptist. Mrs. Mitchell was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Mitchell; and a son, Donald Mitchell.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Mitchell, Athens; daughter, Christy Mitchell Skipper, Athens; brothers, James Leffew Jr., Knoxville, Tenn., and Dean Leffew, Dayton, Tenn.; sisters, Louise Clausin, Dayton, Tenn., and Rosa Lee Morgan, Athens, Tenn.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 5, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Little-Ward Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Nicholson Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, November 4, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Little-Ward Funeral Home, Commerce, is in charge of arrangements.
