ROYSTON - Gatha Mahaffey English, 94, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, at the Brown Health and Rehab in Royston.
English was born in Pelzer, S.C., on May 05, 1920, daughter of the late John Odis Mahaffey and the late Toyie Dowis Mahaffey. She was a kindergarten teacher for the Oakwood Christian School in Anderson, S.C., and a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Canon.
In addition to her parents, English was preceded in death by her husband, David Dorsey English; and two grandchildren, Katherine English and Eric Huff.
Survivors include her children, John English of Columbia, S.C., Tim English of Acworth, Bryan English of Rollinsford, N.H., Susan Morrow of Marion, Ky., and Beth Huff of Royston; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. English will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, S.C., with the Rev. Andy Huff officiating.
