HOMER - Margaret Virginia Poole Pruitt, 94, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born in Banks County on January 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Wilson and Florence Poole. Mrs. Pruitt was retired from Carwood Manufacturing with over 25 years of service. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, puzzles, cooking, and her flowers. She was a devoted Christian and member of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Pruitt was the oldest member of her church at the present time and took great pride that her father, grandfather, and uncle helped establish the church in 1917. Described by her family, she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Her love surrounded her family, her church, her co-workers, and her friends. Mrs. Pruitt was preceded in death by her husband, J. W. Pruitt; son, Jerry Pruitt; daughters, Marion Pritchett and Mildred Pruitt; sons-in-law, Herbert Bray and James Pritchett; grandchild, Lacey Pruitt; brothers, Howard, Mitchell and Billy Poole; and sisters, Annie Sue Greenway and Ruth Edwards.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Chris and Harry Dietrich, Homer, and Carolyn and Eugen Eckstein, Maysville; son, James Pruitt and his friend, Kathy Freeman, Baldwin; daughter-in-law, Louise Pruitt, Commerce; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rudolph and Jewell Poole, Kenneth and Dot Poole, and Donald and Sandra Poole. all of Baldwin; sisters, Myrtle and John A. Lewallen, Rachel and Jay McNabb, and Linda and Charles Chapman, all of Baldwin, Francine and Johnny Elsner, Carnesville, and Julia and Tom McConnell, Cornelia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 16, at the chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Elder Paul Bryson, and Revs. Kenny Kilby and Vaughn Howington officiating. Interment was in the Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
