James T. ‘Johnnie’ Johnson Sr., 65, seeing that his work was done, the Lord saw it fit to call his angel home. Born December 22, 1948, in Demopolis, Ala., he departed this life Saturday, July 4, 2014.
He was a strong Baptist, born and raised in Alabama. Working hard all his life, he left his home state at an early age. He settled in Middletown, Ohio, where he got married and raised four children. He was employed in the United States Postal Office in Middleton, Ohio, until retiring after over 30 years. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Bell Johnson; mother and father, Lula Mae Jones Johnson and Johnnie Johnson, Sr.; two brothers, Johnnie Johnson Jr., David Lee Johnson; and one nephew, Tommie Ward Jr. His presence on Earth will be dearly missed, loved ones stated.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Johnson, Hamilton, Ohio, Michael Johnson and Andrew Johnson, both of Middletown, Ohio; one daughter, Cassandra Johnson, Wash., DC; two grandsons, Carson Johnson and Cole Johnson, both of Hamilton, Ohio; seven sisters, Lillie Mae Hobson, Birmingham, Ala., Georgia (Rev. James) Harris and Beatrice Harris, both of Mobile, Ala., Dorothy Ward, Catherine Johnson, Lucinda (Jimmie) Watson, and Mary Ann Parrish, all of Birmingham, Ala.; three brothers, Junior (Iris) Johnson, Fort Worth, Texas, Nelson (Ruby) Johnson and Nathaniel Johnson, both of Birmingham, Ala.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Thursday, July 10, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Hall-Jordan & Perry Memorial Chapel in Middletown, Ohio. Visitation will be held Friday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Little-Ward Funeral Home in Commerce. Final services will be held Saturday, July 12, at 2 p.m., at Jones Chapel Church in Commerce. Interment will be at Jones Chapel Church Cemetery.
