STATHAM - Randall Morris “Randy” Thompson, 64, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014.
Mr. Thompson was born in Athens, the son of the late James Lamar and Johnnie Francis Lee Thompson. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Mr. Thompson worked in public service as a police officer, where he was with the Clarke County Sheriff’s office and retired from the Barrow County Sheriff’s office as Chief Deputy and Major. Mr. Thompson was a member of the VFW. Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Thompson; and son, James JR Thompson.
Survivors include a sister Peggy Price, Americus; brother, Johnny Lamar Thompson, Clinton, Miss.; nephews, Christopher Thompson and James Taylor Price; nieces, Beverly Susan Thompson and Melissa Jean Scearce; and a great-nephew, Jessie Scearce.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Robby Black officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 13, from 12:30 p.m. until the service.
