MAYSVILLE - Joe Birch Moore, 91, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born June 30, 1922, in Homer, the son of the late George W. and Cora Whitfield Moore. He was a retired auto body technician with Hardy Chevrolet. Moore served his country in the United States Army having fought in World War II. He was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Moore was preceded in death by brothers, J.T. Moore, George Hubbard Moore, and Thomas Dorsey Moore.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia “Jinner” Moore, Maysville; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Mary Jean Moore, Gainesville; son, Garry S. Moore, Commerce; step-son and wife, Darrell and Carol Kent, Hoschton; sisters, Bonnie Cash, Chattanooga, Tenn., Barbara Sue Holcomb, Gillsville, Ruby Abernathy, Lula, and Reba Aiken, Maysville; brother, Kenneth Moore, Flowery Branch; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services were held Sunday June 29, at the Ivie Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Don Voyles officiating. Burial followed in the Center Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Bates officiating.
Ivie Funeral Home, Commerce, was in charge of arrangements.
