Annie Hue Moore, 98, of Statham, died Friday, October 31, 2008.
She was born in Walton County, the daughter of the late John Foster and Elizabeth V. Chandler McElhannon. She was a member of the Statham Methodist Church and taught school in 1929 and 1930 at Argonne School, after which time she went to work at Carwood Manufacturing Company, Jackson & Barrow Manufacturing Company, working more than 40 years in the plants before retiring as a supervisor. She later went to work at Belk’s Department Store, retiring for good at the age of 82. Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, John Kurtz Moore; a daughter, Gloria Stapleton; and grandson, Jackie Stapleton.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Howard Martin, Winder; grandchildren, Jennifer and Phil Thornton, Kay Stapleton, John and Clarissa Stapleton, Bruce Stapleton, Amy Martin Harrell and Tim Harrell; great-grandchildren, Quincy Thornton, Asa Thornton, Anna Stapleton, Jeremy Kiley and Jackson Harrell.
Funeral services were held Sunday, November 2, at Smith Memory Chapel with the Rev. Brent Gilstrap officiating. Burial was in the Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Smith Funeral Home, Winder, was in charge of arrangements.
