Gladys Geneva Brown Phillips, 72, of Gainesville, died Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at the home of her niece.
She was born on May 13, 1936, in Banks County where she lived most of her life, and was the daughter of the late Brazzie and Maggie Chumbler Brown. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Phillips, and was a member of Chopped Oak Baptist Church.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Swayne and Brenda Brown, Clairmont; niece in which she made her home, Janice Bryant, Gainesville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 31, at 2 p.m., at the Chopped Oak Baptist Church with the Revs. Kenneth Pilcher, Robbie Ledford and John Bryant officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Hegwood, Charles Page, George Hollenger, Donavan Hegwood, Anthony Worley and David Bryant.
