Matilda “Tillie” White, 69, of Jefferson, died Sunday, October 26, 2008.
A native of Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late Nowell and Emmie White. She was retired from the University of Georgia Cooperative Extension Service and was a member of Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Robert “Bob” White; daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Bruce Ferguson, Fleming Island, Fla.; grandson, Cole Ferguson, Fleming Island, Fla.; sister, Nancy Bone, Madison; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 28, at 3 p.m., at Bernstein Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Rogers and Dr. Billy Owensby officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Tommy Bone, Jonathan Bone, Joe Turnell, Lewis Fortner, Jimmy Brown and Bob Spivey.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support, 1199 Prince Ave., Athens, Ga. 30606, or Sandy Creek Baptist Church, 160 Bob Holman Rd., Athens, Ga. 30607.
Bernstein Funeral Home, Athens, is in charge of arrangements.
