David Clayton McKinney, 67, of Griffin, formerly of Banks County, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Christian Ministries Hospice in Griffin.
He was born in Sunbury, Pa., on July 19, 1941, the son of the late Warren Henry and Mary Hoover McKinney. He was a member of the Apostolic Church of the Lord Jesus Christ of Barnesville and was retired from the United States Army, having served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of American Legion Post 215 and was also a member of the VFW. Mr. McKinney was preceded in death by his wife, Anjelika Decker McKinney; and a nephew, Brian Mathers.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rhonda McKinney, Griffin; grandchildren, Samantha, Madison and Autumn McKinney, and Jennifer Blair; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lola and Norm Lane, Ocala, Fla., Penny and Steven Dunkelberger and Norma McKinney, all of Sunbury, Pa.; nephews, Keith Mathers, Shelby Mathers, Jason Dunkelberger, Kyle Dunkelberger and Jamie Stiely.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 25, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin with the Revs. Richard Adams and David Goins officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends Friday, October 24, from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.
