ATHENS - Duel Hosie Maddox, 87, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014.
A native of Jackson County, he was the son of the late John and Ossie Crawford Maddox and the widower of Doris Nabers Maddox. He was retired from Normaltown Barbershop after 53 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, 88th Infantry, with service during World War II. Mr. Maddox was a member of Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include two children, Jeffrey W. Maddox (Linda Gale) and Jan Maddox Kirby (Chip); four grandchildren, John T. “Bo” Maddox (Nikki), Mamie Maddox Bettis (Robert), Taylor Kirby, and Trey Kirby; and two great-grandchildren, Laiken Bettis and Rivyn Bettis.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Lord and Stephens, WEST, with the Revs. Bill Ricketts and Benson Bottoms officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince Avenue Baptist Church.
