HOSCHTON - Roy Walter Mickler, 86, passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2014.
Mr. Mickler was born in Mobile, Ala., the son of the late Leon Walter Mickler and Mary Ann Bates Mickler. He was a mechanical engineer and was a member of the Living Word Worship Center. He was a veteran of the United States Army, First Lieutenant, serving in the Korean War, where he was awarded a Bronze Star.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Mickler, Hoschton; sons, Steve Mickler, Snellville, and David Mickler, Clarkesville; grandson, Evan Mickler; sister, Nellie Boyer, Mobile, Ala.; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services were held on Sunday, March 23, in the Living Word Worship Center, with the Rev. Mark Mobley officiating. The burial will be held Friday, March 28, at 11 a.m. in the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Rd., Athens, GA 30605.
