EASTANOLLEE - Jeanette Tyner Strickland, 89, passed away Friday, February 21, 2014, at her residence.
Born May 9, 1924 in Athens, she was the daughter of the late Joel Marvin and Fairah Winn Tyner. She was a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church and was retired from the Stephens County Board of Education with 31 years of service. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Reed Strickland; son, William David Strickland; twin brother, John Chapel Tyner; brother, William Dwaine Tyner; and sisters, Mary Jo Sartin and Jean T. LaVallee.
Mrs. Strickland was the last of her immediate family.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Charles D. and Suzan Strickland, Jack T. and Linda Carol Strickland, R. Allen and Phyllis Strickland, Joe E. and Delores Strickland, and Styles R. and Marilyn Strickland; daughter, Dianne Aaron; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 23, from the chapel of Whitlock Mortuary with the Rev. Jerrell Beatty and Mr. Allen Strickland officiating. Burial was at Stephens Memorial Gardens. The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Evan Strickland, Bradley Strickland, Matt Wood, Clay Strickland, Steve Garrison, Kane Strickland, and Chip Strickland.
Whitlock Mortuary, Toccoa, was in charge of the arrangements.
