COMER - Cliftus Dwaine Welch, 59, died Friday, February 14, 2014.
A longtime resident of Oglethorpe County, he was the son of the late Jack and Mary F. Welch. He was preceded in death by a brother, Toby Welch; and sisters, Betty Bray and Pansy Sloan. Mr. Welch was a poultry farmer and raised cows for many years. He also had worked for Wallace Graham Construction Company as well as Smith Seltzer and Sons.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Welch; children, Terri (Matthew) Patman, Cheryl (Freddie) Nash, Bobbie J. (Tommy) McLendon, and Ray (Kathy) Alford, Tony Alford; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Thressa (Jerry) Fowler, Elwanda Richardson, Erwin, Tenn.; brother, Allen Welch; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, February 17, at 3 p.m. at Colliers Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Boulder Creek Farms Family Cemetery.
