Eugene “Smitty” H. Schmidt, 57, of Gainesville, died Monday, October 20, 2008, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, following an extended illness.
Born in Lincoln, Neb., he was the son of the late Henry and Julia Reed Schmidt.
Mr. Schmidt was the brother-in-law of Dianne and Larry Griffin of Lula.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 23, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home with the Revs. Nathan Huwitt, Scott Ledbetter, Jack Hicks and Farrell Presley officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 21, and Wednesday, October 22, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial Park Funeral Home, Gainesville, is in charge of arrangements.
