Gladys Payne Warren, 94, of Alto, died Monday, October 20, 2008, at Bell Minor Nursing Home, following an extended illness.
She was born in Habersham County on December 5, 1913, the daughter of the late Enoch K. and Etta Morris Payne. She was retired from Chicopee with 26 years of service and was a member of Mud Creek Baptist Church. Mrs. Warren was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Warren; a brother, Phillip M. Payne; and sister, Daisey Rudeseal.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Amy Payne, Alto; sister and brother-in-law, Winifred and John Grizzle, Titusville, Fla.; sister-in-law, Joyce H. Payne, Cornelia; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 22, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home with the Revs. Verner London and Johnny Stone officiating. Burial will be at Yonah Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, October 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The family is at the residence of sister-in-law, Joyce Payne, 3226 Alto-Mud Creek Rd., Alto, Ga. 30510.
McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home, Cornelia, is in charge of arrangements.
