CLAYTON - Sara Nell Moore King, 86, formerly of Carlton, passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013.
She was born in Elbert County, the daughter of the late Frank Simmons Moore Jr. and Alrice Cheek Moore. Sara Nell came to Carlton as a boarding student at Carlton School, where she met Roy Franklin King. She soon became a young war bride. They spent almost 50 years together, until his death in 1991. They made their home in Carlton, where she spent her time devoted to her family, friends and church.
She was a member of Carlton Baptist Church and The Loyalty Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Bill Moore; sister, Kathryn LaBarreare; and son-in-law, Carl Paul.
Survivors include two daughters, Sylvia Paul, Carlton, and Kathy English (Al), Clayton; four grandchildren, Keith Paul, Comer, Carla Jennings (Ron), Colbert, Aaron English and Russ English, both of Clayton.; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Hobbs-Messink, Wesley Paul, Casey Hobbs, and Will Jennings; a great-great grandchild is expected in June; and many dear nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at Beck Funeral Home in Clayton, Tuesday, December 17, from 6 to 8 p.m., and at Carlton Baptist Church on Wednesday, December 18, from 1:30 until 3 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. December 18, at Carlton Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Duhon and Layman Ron Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in the Carlton Cemetery.
