WINDER - John Scott Beatty, 62, entered into rest Saturday, December 7, 2013.
He was born in Commerce, the son of the late Scott Beatty and Vera Davis Beatty Pace of Winder. During his youth, he excelled in varsity football at Jefferson High School and was voted outstanding senior. Mr. Beatty served his country in the United States Army in Korea and Germany, attaining the rank of Sergeant, and receiving numerous medals for services such as Expert Badge with Rifle Bar M-16. He was a member of Oconee Baptist Church and was an environmental consultant with Erosion Control Services, Inc. Mr. Beatty was preceded in death by his wife, Melissa Wiley Beatty; and son, Joseph Beatty. John will be missed by all who knew and loved him, loved ones stated.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Vera and Jerry Pace, Winder; sons, Jamie Beatty, Homer, and John Andrew Beatty, Lawrenceville; daughters, Nicki Evans, Winder, and Julie Clay, Buford; father-in-law, James Wiley, Homer; brother and sister-in-law, Mike and Judy Beatty, Jefferson; sister and brother-in-law, Jackie and Bill Nagy, Peachtree City; numerous nieces and nephews; eight grandchildren; and two great -grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 10, from the chapel of Evans Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwayne Eller officiating. Burial will be at Nails Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 2743 Highway 51 North, Homer. Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Bruce Davis, Tony Davis, Charlie Watson, Lane Sorrow, Alex Stinchcomb, and Chance Studervant. Honorary pallbearers are David Wages, and Bill Taylor. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, December 9.
