COMMERCE - Retired Tech Sgt. James Felton Cronic, 83, died Friday, November 8, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Gertrude Cronic; and a brother, Horace Frank Cronic. Retired Tech Sgt. Cronic was born March 4, 1930 in Commerce. He was a 1947 graduate of Commerce High School. He served his country for 22 years in the United States Air Force, in top secret assignment at Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory; Underground Pentagon at Site R, NORAD Air Defense Command. In Vietnam he was in charge of collecting Air Force Activity each day and sending it directly to President Lyndon B. Johnson and McNamara every morning. "James Felton Cronic was a man whose life was distinguished by honesty and integrity and went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ."
Survivors include a sister, Louise Cronic Grosh and husband Henry, Tucker; twin brother, Welton Cronic, Commerce; nieces, Esther Grosh Yute, Rebekah Yute, Tamra Grosh, Wanda Cronic Sales, and husband Kenneth, Karen Cronic Baker, and husband Todd, Lisa Cronic Goines, and husband Phillip, Amanda Hood Robinson and husband Caleb; nephews, Jonathan Grosh, Caleb Grosh, Joshua Kevin Grosh, Joshua Alan Yute, Jason Warner.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, November 11, in the chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Brian Maguire officiating. Interment will follow at Duncan Creek Congregational Church Cemetery in Buford. Family will receive friends on Monday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
